An English Photographer
Rice’s photographs evoke a passion for plant life, they show the softer textures of petals and the images are delicate yet detailed. The subtleties of the form are increased by the droplets of water in the images I am most inspired by this artist. I feel the use of colour brings a sense of joy and happiness to the viewer.
This genre of garden photography gives the viewer a good sense of the plant, and the relationship that we as a species have with the environment. In my own work, I feel that perhaps introducing water droplets would give the image an extra pop and an additional sense of femininity that is apparent in the softness of the images of flora that Rice photographed.
