Henry Fox Talbot
An English Photographer
born 1800-1877
The ‘godfather’ of modern photographic processes, Fox Talbot created photograms which showed basic forms of ferns, grasses and other plants. Talbot made these images to show the possibilities of the new photographic medium. The composition of the images is isolated, the ferns are clipped and placed haphazardly into the frame of the photogram. The strong black and white tones demonstrate the fine aspects of the plant.
Perhaps I can take clippings of flowers, plants or lichens to study their detailed form via the camera and macro lens I intend to use for my project.
